Course description: This is a hands-on workshop which focuses on screen printing onto paper using hand cut stencils. Participants will draw their own design and then use scalpels to carefully cut out stencils of their design. They will then screen print their design onto paper using their stencils, colourful water based inks, silk screens and squeegees. Lastly, students will create a small edition of multi coloured screen prints on paper which they will be able to take home at the end of the two days. • This workshop involves drawing, cutting and using a range of handheld equipment so participants will need to have a degree of manual dexterity. Course aims and skills/knowledge to be taught • Create an A4 design suitable for hand cut stencils and screen printing • Learn about materials and equipment used for screen printing on paper • Learn how to draw designs suitable for hand cut stencils and screen printing • Learning how to cut stencils using scalpels • Learn to screen print onto paper using hand cut stencils, silk screens, squeegees and water-based inks • Produce a small edition of multi coloured screen prints on paper Course outline for the day Day 1 Morning • An introduction to screen printing including examples of different screen prints. • Information given about how to mix water-based inks, details of the correct materials and equipment needed for screen printing on paper, handouts with instructions and information. Day 2 Morning • Participants will set up ready to screen print. They will use their stencils to screen print, and they will carefully register the second their second layer of colour • Students will then draw their third stencil and carefully cut it out using a scalpel Day 2 Afternoon • Participants will set up ready to screen print. They will use their stencils to screen print and they will carefully register the second their third layer of colour • Participants will add the third colour to the prints they started on the previous day. They will wash and dry screens and squeegees so they are ready to use again. • Some participants may have time to print a fourth colour. After you book a place you will be emailed the full workshop outline which includes the material list and a list of the materials provided by the workshop.

Cancellation Policy

• If you, the customer cancels your booked workshop, we are unable to offer you a refund. • Transfers to an alternative workshop may be possible depending on the circumstance and is of the discretion of the RBSA Gallery. • In the event of under-subscription, workshops may be cancelled or re-arranged. We will give you as much notice as possible if this happens and you will be able to transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The RBSA is unable to refund additional expenses, such as travel and accommodation. • If you are booked on a workshop and do not turn up on the day, a refund will not be given.
