Course description: Easily create beautiful paintings using a variety of paints and mediums. Explore and experiment with colour, form, and expressive techniques. Ideal for beginners but also suitable for artists looking to try something new. Course aims and skills/knowledge to be taught: • To experiment with different paints and mediums to create beautiful abstract and semi abstract paintings. • Studies and sketches using; Watercolours, Watercolour Pencils, Inks, Ink Pencils and Pens on various papers including Watercolour Paper using a variety of brushes and tools. • Mixed media paintings using Acrylic Paints, Inks and Mediums, Oil, Charcoal, Oil Pastels and Graphite on paper including prepared and collaged surfaces. • How to choose a colour palette and mix colours. • Surface preparation. • Sketches and Studies. • How to start a painting. • What makes a successful painting. • When a painting is finished • How to evaluate and critique your work. Course outline for the day: Morning activity • Zarina will introduce the aims and content of the workshop. • The group will begin with Sketches and Studies. • Zarina will demonstrate step by step, how to create sketches and studies and talk about; paper, palette, mixing colour, creating tone and content using various creative techniques and using a variety of tools. • The group will paint along, completing all the painterly tasks. • Zarina will explain how to evaluate the created works and what makes a good painting. • The group will have opportunities during the session to ask questions and evaluate each other’s work. Afternoon activity • Zarina will demonstrate step by step, the art of mixed media painting. • Zarina will talk about; surface, palette, mediums, and various creative techniques using a variety of tools. • The group will paint along, completing all the painterly tasks using a variety of surfaces including pre-prepared surfaces. • Zarina will explain how to evaluate the created works and what makes a good painting. • The group will have opportunities during the session to ask questions and critique each others work. • At the end of the session there will be a group critique. After you book a place you will be emailed the full workshop outline which includes the material list and a list of the materials provided by the workshop.
• If you, the customer cancels your booked workshop, we are unable to offer you a refund. • In the event of under-subscription, workshops may be cancelled or re-arranged. We will give you as much notice as possible if this happens and you will be able to transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The RBSA is unable to refund additional expenses, such as travel and accommodation. • If you are booked on a workshop and do not turn up on the day, a refund will not be given.
