Course description: Why buy a sketchbook for your creativity when you can make your own? Judith Rowley is an experienced textile artist and will provide demonstrations and individual guidance to help you learn how to construct your own beautiful fabric book. Course aims and skills/knowledge to be taught • To appreciate the artistic potential of natural fabrics and fibres • To acquire new skills and knowledge • To create beautiful pages and construct a fabric book • Learn and understand the qualities of fabrics and fibres as a creative medium • Learn to work safely with appropriate tools • To construct a ‘rag book’ • Learn how to develop your book into an art book/journey journal Course outline for the day Morning activity • Judith will welcome and introduce the group and provide information on health and safety practices. • The group will be shown a range of examples of fabric books and discuss techniques used to make them. • Judith will demonstrate techniques used to create the fabric book. Afternoon activity • Using the skills demonstrated in the morning session, the group will begin to construct their own ‘rag books’. • During the work process, Judith will explain how to develop the book into a purposeful anthology. • Judith will lead a group discussion to talk about the work created and the further potential for creativity. After you book a place you will be emailed the full workshop outline which includes the material list and a list of the materials provided.

Cancellation Policy

• If you, the customer cancels your booked workshop, we are unable to offer you a refund. • Transfers to an alternative workshop may be possible depending on the circumstance and is of the discretion of the RBSA Gallery. • In the event of under-subscription, workshops may be cancelled or re-arranged. We will give you as much notice as possible if this happens and you will be able to transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The RBSA is unable to refund additional expenses, such as travel and accommodation. • If you are booked on a workshop and do not turn up on the day, a refund will not be given.
