Course description: Create an exciting relief print using the collagraph print technique. Using their own design or image as reference, participants will create texturized layers onto a surface before using said plate to create a stamp style print. Using both natural and three-dimensional resources for the collagraph this method creates a multitude of prints whilst also allowing each one to be different from the next. This activity allows creativity to shine through mixing together planned and experimental working. Age group and abilities to be taught • 18 years and above. • Suitable for adults of all ages and abilities including beginners, people looking to refresh their skills and those with some printmaking experience. Course aims and skills/knowledge to be taught • Create a design suitable for collagraph printing • Understand the history of collagraph printing • Learn about materials and how to use equipment used for collagraph printing on paper • Learn about how natural as well as synthetic materials can be used for collagraph • Learn how to mix colours to create unique shades using a pantone chart • Learn how to add create ombre colour layers for collagraph printing • Create 2 collagraphs one with natural materials and another with synthetic Course outline for the day Day 1 - Morning activity Brief outline of the day including health and safety information. • Quick introduction to myself as an artist, with a wide range of examples of completed work. • Brief history of collagraph printing • Demonstration of how to create a collagraph using natural materials • Participants will start layering their collagraph plate and stick on their materials • Demonstration on how to mix colours using a pantone colour palette • Demonstrate on how to print a collagraph plate • Participants will then apply colour to their natural collagraph plate and print. Day 1 - Afternoon activity • Demonstration on how to create a collagraph using three dimensional materials showing examples • Demonstration on how to create an ombre style effect using ink colours • Participants will sketch a design of what they’d like to create • Participants will create their collagra After you book a place you will be emailed the full workshop outline which includes the material list and a list of the materials provided.

Cancellation Policy

• If you, the customer cancels your booked workshop, we are unable to offer you a refund. • Transfers to an alternative workshop may be possible depending on the circumstance and is of the discretion of the RBSA Gallery. • In the event of under-subscription, workshops may be cancelled or re-arranged. We will give you as much notice as possible if this happens and you will be able to transfer to another course or receive a full refund. The RBSA is unable to refund additional expenses, such as travel and accommodation. • If you are booked on a workshop and do not turn up on the day, a refund will not be given.
