We run summer workshops every July and August, with professional artists offering tips on how to improve your skills or learn something new. The beauty of our classes is there’s no long term commitment. You can dip in and mix and match as you see fit.

Highlights across the summer include:
Vibrant Pastels: 23 – 24 July – Learn how to utilise texture, colour, and composition to create vibrant, eye-catching pastel artworks.This workshop is suitable for all abilities, including beginners.
Mixing Media: 25 – 26 July – Discover how to use a variety of media in a range of ways to create interesting artworks. Use pen, ink, paint, papers, and materials such as bleach to give your work added texture, depth, and spontaneity.
Experimental Portrait Painting: 30 July – Trial a variety of materials and approaches to create a selection of exciting portraits. There will be a live model on the second day of the workshop.
Painting Small with a Big Brush: 27 July – Produce a series of small, expressive watercolours in this workshop ideal for beginners.
Painting Portraits in Oils for Beginners: 01 August – Introduction into portrait oil painting learning about the basic palette, how start a painting, facial proportions, and how to bring life to a portrait.
Urban Drawing: 6 August – Practical tips to help increase your confidence and develop your drawing skills for sketching in the urban landscape.
Seeing and Thinking Photographically: 7 August – How we translate the three-dimensional world into an interesting two-dimensional picture. Short assignments will help you release your creativity and take your image-making to a new level.
Improving Your Images: 13 August – Gain top tips on how to edit and organise images of your artwork using a range of imaging tools, including ones that are free to use online.
Creating Online Content for your Website: 16 August – Artists are increasingly aware that promoting work via websites, blogs, and social media is essential in this digital age. However, it can also be time-consuming and overwhelming. This workshop reveals how to make the process more effective and less tiresome for artists.
Mastering Monotype: 24 Aug – Discover how to use simple techniques to create your own printed artworks. Suitable for print enthusiasts and beginners alike.
Screen-printing with Hand-cut Stencils: 25 Aug – Learn to make hand-cut stencils of your own images, patterns or designs. Then screen print onto paper using your stencils, silk screens, squeegees and water-based inks. Create layers of different colours and produce a small edition of unique screen prints.
