#PortraitsForNHSHeroes by RBSA Artist Cristina Celestini

Portraits for NHS Heroes is an art project held in the United Kingdom during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

It started with Artist Tom Croft offering to paint a key worker’s portrait in a post on Instagram and has lead to artists around the world giving away free portraits to front-line workers.

RBSA Artist, Cristina Celestini, completed her drawing of Kunmi, a Psychiatry Trainee who has been redeployed as a front line health worker in the North East of England.

#PortraitsForNHSHeroes by Cristina Celestini

Cristina Celestini is a teacher and a self- taught artist who finds the human figure and the environment we inhabit fascinating and inspiring. Cristina explores the infinite depth and immediacy of working in charcoal, graphite and pencil on canvas to portray the passage of time, the nature of memory and the resilience of the human spirit.

Three of Cristina’s artworks are in the RBSA online exhibition Remote Access and are available to buy.
