As we open the doors for our annual Friends Exhibition we cast a spotlight on our Friends scheme… one of the oldest art society membership schemes in the UK.
There’s an exciting annual programme of events especially for our Friends, who pay just £35 a year to access a host of benefits.
Linda Nevill, an Associate of the RBSA and Friends Co-ordinator explains more…
I’m delighted to have recently taken on the role of Friends Co-ordinator with the help of Cristina Celestini (pictured above).
As a Friend myself for many years, I’ve enjoyed attending various events and taking part in painting workshops, which rekindled my love of oil painting. However, probably what motivated me most was the opportunity to meet other artists and having the opportunity to submit artwork for the June Friends Exhibition.
One of the things I regret not doing as a Friend is that I didn’t attend the group artwork appraisals. I’d like to not only keep the group appraisals in future Friends’ programmes, but also see if one-to-one appraisals would be popular for those a bit shy of sharing their work with a group.
I’m keen to hear from you if you are a Friend and have any feedback or ideas for future events.
And if you are thinking of joining the Friends of the RBSA, you’ll be in great company. We are one of the oldest art societies in the UK!
