This year the RBSA has an exciting programme of Winter Workshops. Each workshop is friendly, enjoyable and informative, and excellent value for money! So, why not purchase an artistic treat for yourself or a loved one?

Here are just some of the great courses available. All the workshops run from 11am-4.30pm with a lunch break, unless otherwise specified.

Abstract Landscapes 13 – 14 February 2019 Zarina Keyani


Explore colour, form, and expressive techniques to produce abstract landscapes in a range of paints and inks. Skills you will develop include use of colour, tone and texture and how to know when a work is finished. Ideal for beginners but also suitable for painters looking to try something new.


Improve Your Drawing 15 February 2019 Ed Isaacs RBSA


Develop your drawing skills through a range of exercises, including drawing from still-life and drawing from photographs. You will also learn about using perspective, line and colour effectively, as well as developing your personal style. Suitable for all abilities, including beginners.


Portraits in Oils for Beginners 16 February 2019 Fran Currie RBSA

Receive an introduction into portrait oil painting by learning about the basic palette, how to start a painting, facial proportions, and how to bring life to a portrait. Designed for beginners but suitable for intermediates seeking a ‘refresher’.


Monoprint and Drypoint 20 February 2019 Mike Allison, Guest Tutor

Mike will demonstrate how to create and print a dry-point based on your selected design. Colour will be added to the dry-point prints using a second monoprint plate. This workshop is ideal for beginners but also suitable for intermediates.
