David Barnes

On leaving Art College, David Barnes started teaching as a Secondary School Specialist Art Teacher and eventually becoming Head of Department. Later he moved to a Deputy Headship in a Primary School until his retirement when he took up art full time.

As the Founder Chairman of the Shapeshifters Sculpture Group, David works in a variety of materials but mainly in stone because of its challenges and opportunities.

He works theoretically to allow a wide range of starting points from visual to literary and believes that drawing is a fundamental part of the creative and design process.
