Alison Chambers has exhibited through galleries in London, Amsterdam, Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold, Worcester and Tunbridge Wells; with commissioned work held in various private collections.
She has had work selected on various occasions for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) Annual Exhibition as well as the Royal West of England Academy and the Society of Women Artists’ Annual Exhibitions. Chambers is drawn towards structures and form, (including the human form), with her recent works focussing on cityscapes. She is interested in reflections and the suggestion of interior lives, such as behind windows, around corners in narrow streets – what we don’t see clearly but we know, or think that we know, is there. Alison paints mainly in oils and prefers to work on a fairly large scale. Her work is figurative but not literal; aiming to capture the essence of the subjects that interest her rather than to describe them literally.
