See the separate 'primary', 'secondary', and 'college' subheadings on the left for more specific details.

The RBSA Gallery offers a range of education activities for adults, young people and school groups. These include: Summer School programmes, workshops, free demonstrations, Family Friendly activities, school visits and school workshops (both on and off site). All education workshops and projects are delivered by experienced RBSA Members or Associates, providing a high quality educational experience in an engaging environment.

The RBSA Gallery also houses a Permanent Collection and Archive. The Permanent Collection contains over 400 pieces of work by Members, Associates and artists with a connection to the Midlands. The Archive documents the history and activity of the society. It includes letters, diaries and exhibitions catalogues dating from the nineteenth-century. These materials can be used for school/college workshops and projects. This means the RBSA Gallery can design workshops/projects that are suitable for a variety of subjects and interests, such as:

  • Visual arts
  • History
  • Local history and heritage
  • Natural sciences/ Environment
  • Geography

The RBSA Gallery aims to establish long term relationships with local schools and colleges to develop a regular and constant programme of workshops and projects.

Free guided tours!

For many of our exhibitions, we are able to offer free guided tours to groups from primary school, secondary school, and college. These are led by a member of staff, an artist volunteer, or an artist whose work is on display in the exhibition. Tours normally last for 20 minutes, with time afterwards for students to take photos, complete sketches, and gather other research material for use back at school.

If you would like to enquire about booking a free guided tour, or making a free group visit to the Gallery, please e-mail
