Flock

10 January — 08 April 2011

Birds of a feather flock together in the Craft Gallery’s first exhibition of 2011, which features a host of designer makers new to the RBSA. Inspired by birds of all shapes and species, this exhibition explores their use as motifs in contemporary fine craft. Demonstrating how birds can inspire shape and form as well as pattern and surface design, the works on display are diverse in their approaches. Featured in this
ornithological spectacle is mixed-media artist Becky Adams, whose use of bird motifs in her artists books and textile assemblages evoke her personal thoughts. Claire Brewster will also be displaying her collection of paper-cut birds made from old maps and atlases, alongside John Moore's aluminium jewellery.
