Meet the Artist: Judith Grassi

29 June 2019

A chance to meet artist Judith Grassi during the Friends exhibition, and learn about the inspiration behind her works and how she creates them. Judith herself has been as Friend of the RBSA for a number of years.

She trained in the 1970s at Rochdale College of Art and then at the Faculty of Art and Design at Wolverhampton, specialising in Fine Art.

Judith’s work is inspired by nature in all its forms; from a close-up of a flower petal to the pattern and design seen in a microscopic image of a bird’s feather. She has recently become interested in the symbolism of things and has incorporated these references into her paintings using the written word.

Colour is an important part of her work and Judith paints filling the canvas with the subject, portraying the scale and shapes which become apparent when observing a flower or plant at close range.
