Architect-led design team needed for gallery refurbishments and alterations...
The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA), which traces its origins to the early part of the nineteenth century, is an artist-led charity which supports artists and promotes engagement with the visual arts. It provides a range of inclusive activities including exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations. The Society owns and runs its own exhibition venue, the RBSA Gallery, located just off St Paul’s Square, near Birmingham’s historic jewellery quarter and a short walk from the city centre.
The RBSA is seeking to appoint an architect-led design team for refurbishment and alterations to its premises and gallery.
The anticipated cost of the refurbishment and alteration works is £250,000 exclusive of professional fees and VAT. The likely scope of works comprises replacement of all windows and external doors; re-organisation of ground floor display and retail area and of storage; improved heating system throughout galleries; improved hanging system; improved lighting; improved insulation and new boiler or heating system.
The project will be subject to successful fund raising from various sources. Expressions of interest are invited including details of track record in the following:
- Refurbishment and alterations of small heritage buildings with a relevant project value.
- Interior design and fit out of retail spaces in a cultural or heritage sector environment.
Minimum Professional Indemnity insurance requirement of £2,000,000 will apply.
