Simon Davis

Simon studied Graphic Design and Technical Illustration at Swindon College of Art and Leamington Spa. For a number of years, he worked as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator for books and comic strips. He has also storyboarded music videos and television adverts for Muse, Tori Amos and Barclaycard. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2004, and as a full member in 2005. He has exhibited in Warwickshire, Worcestershire and London. He acted as Hon. Secretary for a number of years for the RBSA. In 2003, he came second in the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery. The human face is Simon’s chief inspiration. For him, a portrait requires energy, dynamism and careful composition. The anonymity of the subject to the viewer encourages speculation and perhaps the creation of an identity and narrative.
