Graham Blaine

Graham Blaine

Graham specialised in silversmithing at school before embarking on Industrial Design at Birmingham College of Art. After working in Product Design and as a Development Engineer for many years, Graham retired in 2000. He now devotes more time to his painting as well as attending weekly silversmithing classes at Birmingham City University’s Jewellery School. An accomplished and confident watercolourist, Graham also has extensive teaching experience. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 1979 and as a member in 1985. Drawings are a key element in Graham’s work, and he produces most of his paintings from sketches he makes ‘on the spot’ in the open air. He then works these up into finished watercolour paintings in his studio. On occasion, Graham will use photographs to support his initial sketches. Graham does not accept commissions.
