George Yeeles Loades

George took up painting as light relief from engineering studies and is largely self-taught through his attendance of numerous art courses and extensive reading widely across the art spectrum. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2012 and as a member in 2014. He is an active member of Ludlow Art Society and has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries for the past four years. Media used includes watercolour, pen ink and wash and, occasionally, oil and acrylics. Other subjects include landscape, buildings and sometimes, a venture into cubist interpretations. Being a native of the North-East coast he has a strong interest in marine subjects ranging from the days of the steam colliers and the unglamorous heavy marine industry of the area, to the pleasant aspects of the traditional British seaside, creeks, rivers and foreshore. A strong tonal contrast underpins the atmosphere and feeling of his work.
