Robert Neil

Robert is a largely self-taught artist, but did spend some time studying at the ‘London Atelier of Representational Art’ (LARA). He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2001, as the President in 2012, and as a member in 2013. His work has been shown widely, including the prestigious BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in London. Robert won the People’s Choice Award at the Royal West of England Academy in 2015, was awarded second place in 2013’s RBSA Portrait Prize exhibition and first place in the RBSA’s annual Prize exhibition in 2011. Robert is primarily focused on portraiture and figurative painting. He produces thoughtful painterly images and strongly believes that portraiture still has an important role in the digital age. Robert rarely accepts commissions.
