Mike Brown

Mike has worked and exhibited in the West Midlands in watercolour, oil and pastel. He was trained at Brighton College of Art for five years gaining his Art Teacher’s Diploma in 1955. He taught in Secondary Schools but also continued with adult classes throughout his teaching career. For some years he ran a craft workshop at Middleton Hall near Tamworth, selling his own paintings and prints and doing quick portraits. Around this time, he also completed a large mural which can still be seen at Whitacre Heath village hall in North Warwickshire. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 1994 and a full member in 2001. He has been a long-term member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society during which time he has served as Secretary and as President. Since early retirement he has been demonstrating his painting skills to Art Societies enjoying a wide subject matter, which includes landscape, still-life, and portrait. Mike's main subject has been landscape since he came to live in Shropshire for a period early in his career. He has now retired to live in Shropshire and experience the marvellous landscape again.
