Peter  Shread

Peter trained at Moseley School of Art and taught in Dudley for many years. After taking early retirement, he has been able to concentrate on his own artistic output. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2001 and as a member in 2002. Peter has exhibited widely and won a number of prizes including the Manchester Academy prize and the 2006 First Prize in the RBSA Open Print Exhibition. His most recent public art commission was for glass panels at the Midland Metro stations. Peter produces woodcut and linocut relief prints. A separate block is cut for each colour and, typically, his colour prints are composed of three to five blocks. These are printed on his own hand press. Peter’s work endeavours to combine the decorative and topographic aspects of landscape to produced a strong and striking image.
