Rosalind Burns

I came to painting from science, interested in the form and evolution of landscape, the dynamic system of water and rock. Landscape and memory, are the roots of my work. Pathways of connection link hillside tracks and neural networks, physical memory etched on the ground.
I experiment with materials, with patterns of flow and dispersion, with earth and natural pigment. Whatever the medium I try to draw together observation and memory but there is a tension between clarity and uncertainty , images become more ambiguous, more abstract.
