Maggie Humphry

Born 1943.
Maggie's training started at St. Albans School of Art and continued at Swansea School of Art & University, leading her into art teaching. Whilst she was a Fellow at Digswell Arts Trust, she took the leap into independence as an artist.
For many years she lived in North Wales, becoming very well known as a ceramicist. Her main works were delicate, distinctive figures, and large ceramic murals in public places. She created many murals to commission in England and Wales and there's even one in Nazareth. She was called upon to teach, support, and represent ceramics widely, at every level.
In 1993, due to a clay-lifting accident, she put ceramics aside and began to retrace her steps towards drawing, painting and etching. Since then Maggie has worked unerringly to redevelop and to expand upon these skills, and to achieve a personal style in each. Her determination is bearing rich fruit, with great versatility across the several media.
