Free-lance Textile Artist, following retirement from teaching in the Midlands. Member of the Embroiderers' Guild.
Working with the sewing machine as a design tool has become central to my work, enabling a wide variety of different textures to be created by manipulating the stitching.
I prefer to choose a design theme and to 'run with it' for several years before moving on.The 'Sunset' series evolved from a study of colours in the skies in the evening.
The 'Salcombe estuary' series all arose from observations and photographs of the reflections on the surface of the water and the fascinating patterns left behind by the tide in the sand.
