Marylane Barfield

My work seems to revolve around themes. One theme is travel. I travel with sketchbooks and a camera. If possible I like to work on the spot. Travel pictures will include landscape, seascape, cityscape, people, and monuments. Another theme is my indoor/outdoor theme. Here the work is based of conservatories where one has indoor furniture but an outdoor environment. I also produce work on the theme of interiors. I like interiors that tell you about the people who live in that space, however, the people are not present in the picture. Lastly, and my endless love is the study of the human form. Working from the figure has continued since my college days. I never fail to find interest in the figure work.

I try to express my personal reaction to the subject. Above all, I love paint for its colour and the quality of the medium. I am dedicated to drawing in all its forms. Above all my work reflects my personal journey through life.
