Joanna Fyfe

I am a Fine Art graduate painter, and motivated by a fascination with paint, its properties and values. I explore the ‘processes’ involved in the making of my paintings – the physical act of applying paint, the gesture and movement; how it appears on the surface, its colour and effect.

My ideas for paintings are generated from collages – combining fragments of photos, magazine images, creating drapes of colour, shape and light.

After leaving university I became Artist-in-Residence at a Visual Arts College in Chester, running pupil workshops as well as working with the wider community. Currently I am a LEA artist, leading workshops in Cheshire Schools. I am also a lead artist on the Creative Start 50+ project in Salford, a government scheme aimed at maintaining the well-being of over 50's. As well as delivering freelance painting workshops, I regularly exhibit and sell my own work locally and nationally.
