Heinke Jenkins

Heinke Jenkins was born in Heilbronn, West Germany. She has lived in England since 1961 and is a British citizen. Her work has been exhibited in Britain, Germany and the USA.
Heinke's childhood was lived through the nightmare of war; her adolescence subjected to the horrors of the aftermath.
"People - their inability to cope, their afflictions, their sufferings - a theme that has interested me all my artistic life"
Viewing thirty years of work, one is intrigued and fascinated watching the slow evolution of the gaunt, haunted and tormented figures of the sixties into solid, more secure thoughtful images of the eighties set in a lighter and busier environment.
