Bruce Hurn PPRBSA

Born in Spalding, Bruce received his A.T.D. from Birmingham College of Art. He became a visiting tutor at Nuneaton and Bournville Schools of Art before being appointed Director of Art and Design at King Edward's School, Birmingham. Four years later he became, additionally, Head of Moseley Branch School of Art. This was a part time A. E. role.

After very many years teaching, examining and painting, he was apponter H.M. Inspector of Schools, Art and Design. He was also posted to the Southern Division of the inspectorate which involved the whole Hurn family moving to Chislehurst, Kent in 1974 - only one year after he had become President of the RBSA.

In retirement, as always, drawing, painting, design and travel remain central to his very full community and family life. His last major show was at the RBSA in 2002:'Two Generations, Brookes and Hurn'.
