Anne Clough

Originally I only painted from life, especially portraiture.

As I travelled more and more to many climes, spending happy hours, sketching, painting and meeting people who had great input into the surroundings, the challenge to capture a fleeting moment became all important.
 
At the beginning an idea is born as I reflect, looking at sketches, drawings and photographs and I strive to capture the thought. The result can often be quite different, as I am carried along and the work develops, but hopefully something of the very essence of the location is captured in colour, light and vitality of the local people.
